Bring your skills to the stage

You don’t need to have a theatre background to get involved. If you enjoy DIY, sewing, tinkering with tech or staying organised, we have a role for you. We provide full training and a supportive environment to learn new crafts.

Stage Management & Props

The boss of backstage, you keep the show running smoothly and find the perfect objects to bring the world of the play to life.

Lighting & Sound

Set the atmosphere; from programming the board to live sound mixing, this is where art meets technology.

Wardrobe & Costume

From period gowns to punk rock design, sew and maintain the look of our characters.

Set Construction & Painting

If you’re handy with a drill or a paintbrush, help us build everything from art deco parlours to alien planets.

Photography and Video

Capture our rehearsals and performances, both for publicity and posterity.

Set design

Bring to life new worlds, from period locations to surreal landscapes.

Want to see backstage in person?

Technical FAQs

You don’t need your own tools or equipment to make a contribution to our productions. We have a fully fitted workshop and wardrobe department, with members who will be happy to help you. Everything you need will be provided, you just supply your effort and enthusiasm!

A lot of our members work full-time and fit in their participation around other commitments. The majority of rehearsals take place in the evenings and weekends to suit busy schedules. The amount of time you give is totally up to you.

There are many roles needed for every production, not all of which are listed here. We have members who design and make puppets for productions, graphic designers who contribute to our marketing, composers who create soundtracks for shows, to name just a few. If you have a specialised skill that you’d like to volunteer with, please get in touch.

We encourage members to try out different groups and learn new skills. Volunteering to work front of house is a great way to get started as it’s a simple way to give your time and allows you to meet other members and our audiences.
