The Questors Theatre

Improvisation – Comedy & Drama Level 2 (Nov – Dec 26)

When we woke up this morning, nobody handed us a script!

This course will cover both longform and shortform improvisational techniques.

Shortform
For those less familiar with improv, shortform is the best introduction, and each game or exercise has a specific format that the players have to stick to.

There will be a lot of working in pairs and groups, and we will all ‘get things wrong’, with entertaining and hilarious results for everyone in class!

We will revisit shortform games covered in Level 1, such as ‘The Oracle’ and ‘The Alphabet Game’, a host of new games, and there will be an end of course show for friends and family, in which it is optional to perform.

Longform
We will be doing lots of scenes in pairs and groups, and introducing or consolidating key Longform fundamentals such as:

  • Different ways to open scenes
  • How to build characters that are different from yourself
  • How to establish believable relationships
  • Finding and utilising truth in scenes
  • How to Map trivial matters to huge consequences
  • Practicing spacework in scenes
  • Tagging players in and out of scenes

All Level 2 courses are standalone, limited to 16 students, and if you miss any classes, this is not a problem. As usual, there is the option to perform in the end of course Showcase to friends and family.
