It has been over 120 years since Schnitzler wrote ‘La Ronde’ - a play he wrote for friends to read around the dinner table - never meant for publication. At the time this play would have been a particularly controversial document as it put respectable figures in untoward places. It demonstrated how sex transcends all social barriers and how even the noblest of pursuits can lead to heartache and desperation.
