Enjoy an evening with Oliver Ford Davies as he delivers a masterclass in acting Shakespeare.
Davies is one of the UK’s leading actors, and also a distinguished writer on Shakespeare.
This
masterclass will be based around his 2017 book, Shakespeare’s Fathers
and Daughters, and will include performances of sequences from
Shakespeare’s most popular plays. Davies will perform and also direct
six actors through some of the Bard’s most famous father-daughter
scenes.
Plays will include Two Gentlemen of Verona, Romeo and
Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, As You Like It, Hamlet, Othello, Troilus
and Cressida, King Lear and The Tempest.
Davies has performed in
numerous Shakespeare plays during his professional career, including as
Polonius in Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company, alongside David
Tennant and Patrick Stewart, and in 2009 appeared in All's Well That
Ends Well at the Royal National Theatre.
He is an Honorary
Associate Artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company and an Olivier Award
winner. On the screen he is best known for his roles in Kavanagh QC,
Game of Thrones, Johnny English and as Sio Bibble in Star Wars Episodes I
to III.
This exclusive event will include a lively and frank
discussion about Shakespeare’s characters and their family relationships
– drawing on Davies’ wealth of experience in acting.
As this is a free event, donations on the evening to our Q Renew fund will be welcomed.
