Medea is wife to Jason. She was instrumental in his quest for the fleece, even killing her own brother. She now lives in exile where she has borne him two sons. When he abandons her for a new wife Medea faces banishment. She begs for one day’s grace. Time enough to exact an appalling revenge.
Amidst the tragedy of Ben Power’s forceful adaptation, we see in Medea “a recognisable human being, alive with contradictions” (The Guardian, 2014). This feminist retelling of Euripides’ classic asks us difficult questions about gender, motherhood, and whether we can ever empathise with people who do terrible things.
This 70 minute show has a mixture of seated and stood audience member. The company will be performing both on-stage and in amongst the standing audience.
Any audience members who require a seat for accessibility reasons please email enquiries@questors.org.uk with your booking reference, date of attendance and your requirements. All other seating is on a first come, first served basis but we ask audience members to be mindful of others when choosing whether to stand or sit.
