Q Extra: The Art of the Monologue

The art of the monologue continued...

Part two of our series exploring the art of the monologue with David Erdos.

Prepare for a demonstration workshop on the art of the monologue within plays and the development of the one person show. With reference to established examples, attendees will be encouraged to try out and create pieces of their own devising in a session aimed at a celebration of self.

This enticing event is aimed at any writing, acting and directing member keen to explore both play structure and the demands of this still developing form.

Bring pieces you are working on, or interested in and this mixture of workshop rehearsal and examination will bring to life the challenges and rewards of theatre’s most challenging medium.

From tips on approach to explorations of style participants will explore the links between storytelling, dramatic poetry, resonance and musicality. Seeds will be planted with the intention of creating a future harvest in a follow-up session. Over time it is hoped that a series of solo performance pieces will be developed.
