The Wardrobe staff on a show are responsible for making and adjusting costumes and accessories. On a historical show this may involve quite a large team making up complete costumes. But even on a modern production in everyday dress, members of the Wardrobe Department will need to obtain the right clothes, and may also need to adjust clothes to fit actors, and then maintain the costumes during the run of the production. General sewing skills are necessary. Wardrobe Assistants with creative or historical skills may progress to become a Costume Designer.
