Platform - Truth on Stage: Stanislavsky’s System in Action

Platform Short Courses

Deepen your understanding of the Stanislavky system

This course offers a comprehensive and structured journey into incorporating Stanislavsky’s System into your onstage performance, empowering you with System’s famous techniques to create authentic, compelling characters and make precise, instinctive acting choices. Through practical, hands-on application of Stanislavsky’s most celebrated methods, participants will explore iconic characters from classic plays (participant’s own choice) or creating their own imaginary characters, unlocking a deeper understanding of how the System enhances their ability to understand, interpret, and fully embody each role.

What will we cover?

Participants will immerse themselves in Stanislavsky’s core principles, mastering their practical application through:

  • Defining the 'Objective' as the central force propelling your character’s narrative

  • Channeling 'Action' as the foundation for a dynamic and captivating onstage presence

  • Analysing 'Given Circumstances' to ground and enrich your interpretive choices

  • Activating the 'Magic If' to spark imagination and deepen your connection to the character

  • Developing 'Imagination' and mastering 'Circles of Attention' as essential tools to heighten focus and unleash a wealth of creative energy in performance

Who teaches this course?

Born and raised in Ukraine, Oksana Wroath was accepted at the age of 17 to the Rostov Drama School in Russia, where she studied stage acting for four years. This classical Russian foundation in actor training included rigorous study of the Stanislavsky’s System, stage acting skills, world theatre history, stage movement, singing, dance, and the art of clear, expressive speech. Graduating with distinction, Oksana spent a decade as a leading actress in Russian repertory theatres, honing her ability to translate Stanislavsky’s principles into authentic, emotionally honest performances, before relocating to UK. Since 2007, Oksana worked as a director of community and youth theatres, inspiring, educating, and managing diverse groups while building confidence and creativity in the performers of all ages. Her freelance work with Sterts Theatre, Cornwall, and other venues has allowed her to design and deliver workshops for both adults and young people, alongside directing 29 classical and contemporary productions with casts ranging from 4 to 70 actors. Today, Oksana runs her own business teaching LAMDA Exams in Acting and mentoring emerging performers, combining her expertise in the Stanislavski system with a lifelong passion for classical plays and the transformative power of theatre.
