Do you prefer to watch a play on YouTube rather than read it? Or skim the synopsis on Wikipedia? What could you be missing as a performer if you don’t see the writing on the page?
Come and find out in this 4 session Saturday course where you will be given the tools to dig for clues that lead you to a grounded and layered performance.
What is it?An opportunity to explore a written script and to put into practise what you learn. After examining the text collectively, you will each rehearse and perform a duologue from the chosen play under the guidance of the facilitator.
Who is the facilitator?Clare Stopford is a South African theatre director, drama teacher and lecturer with 45 years’ experience in the field.
Who is this for?Anyone at any level who wants to deepen and practise their craft - or simply have fun expanding their knowledge base about approaches to acting. If you have ‘blocks’ about reading or are dyslexic, this could be an opportunity to find strategies to manage anxiety and claim your power as a performer.
What is the time commitment? The content and rehearsals for the scenes are accumulative so it’s preferable that you attend all sessions. You may benefit from individual sessions but you will naturally be omitted from the performance scenes which need collaboration over the period.
