Here you can watch new and popular plays every week. We deliver a full season of professional-quality productions and provide a performance venue for touring theatre companies. Anyone can get involved; become a Questors member and take part in everything from acting and directing to lighting, front of house and stage design. We also deliver theatre training for all ages; find out about our Academy and Youth Theatre.

Questors Academy

Are you a performer looking to develop your skills?

This series of 3 sessions uses improvisation techniques to develop performance skills that will support improvisation performances, scripted shows and auditions for:
- Confident actors
- Advanced improvisers


Three stand-alone taster sessions are planned:

· Engaging Characters (Saturday 1st February)
· Dramatic Tension (Saturday 15th March)
· On Stage Alone (Saturday 22nd March)

It is recommended that you book for all three sessions, but this is not mandatory.


What this session will cover?

By the end of On Stage Alone session you will have practiced techniques to:
- Build confidence on stage alone
- Engage the audience,
- Reveal your character
- Build a story and location
- Learned to shape improvised monologues to add emotion and weight
- On Stage Alone


Who teaches this course?

The sessions will be led by Becky Hartnup.

Becky has trained in improvisation with Hoopla, The Free Association, The Maydays, AndAlso. She performs regularly with various teams. As a member of the Applied Improvisation Network she uses improvisation techniques in training and corporate facilitation as well as in the theatre.

She is a director at The Questors, and also an acting member with roles in scripted plays including A Midsummer Nights Dream and God of Carnage as well as in devised performances. She ran a series of woekshops to support the performers of Red Rabbit White Rabbit


Who is this course for?

This course is for you if you are interested in experimenting with improvisation techniques and want to improve your performance skills.

You are either:

a) A confident actor

You are probably an acting member at The Questors or with similar experience elsewhere.

You may be looking to improve your performance technique for auditions and scripted shows OR you may be ‘improv-curious’ and wish to explore the performance aspect of improvisation, without having to start at first base.

OR

b) An experienced improviser

You have taken Level 1 and Level 2 improv classes at Questors or elsewhere.
You have probably performed in improvisation shows
You are interested in dramatic improvisation


When is this course?

On Stage Alone from 3.15pm - 5.45pm


Fees

Standard: £20 per session
Season Pass Holders: £15 per session
Fees are payable in advance. 
Any Season Pass discounts will be automatically calculated after logging in .

Applications

There is no audition required. The course is available to those aged 18 and over.
