Here you can watch new and popular plays every week. We deliver a full season of professional-quality productions and provide a performance venue for touring theatre companies. Ever wondered how your voice can get you work?

A fun and informative three-week course exploring the skills and techniques of on-mic voiceover acting for commercials, storytelling, documentaries and museum guides.

This is a practical, hands-on introductory course that explores the world of voiceover acting for anyone who’s ever heard a voiceover and thought “I can do that!”.

What it’s like to work as a voice actor


What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should understand how to:

-Create a connection with your audience, simply using your voice;
-Approach a variety of voiceover genres - including commercial, documentary and storytelling;
-Set the right speed and tone to match the emotional quality;
-Have an awareness of how your voice comes across to others.


Who teaches this course?
The sessions will be led by Sam Boffin. Sam is a full-time professional voice actor who works across the voiceover industry from animation, video games, audio drama and film-dubbing to commercials, documentaries and storytelling. She teaches voiceover acting at the Institute for Contemporary Theatre and is guest lecturer at other colleges and universities in the UK. She’s also an experienced voiceover coach and podcaster.

Before becoming a full-time voice, she worked at the BBC as Head of CBBC and CBeebies. Sam is an Acting Member at Questors.


Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for voiceover beginners and those with some experience who’d like to improve their understanding and skill with voiceover work.

To get the most from the course you should be able to:
-Sight read a script accurately
-Be happy to work in a group
-Give and receive constructive feedback
-Take notes

Fees are payable in advance.

Applications
There is no audition required. The course is available to those aged 18 and over.
