In Into the Woods JR., a twist on classic fairy tales, familiar characters embark on
intertwined journeys to fulfil their deepest wishes. Cinderella wants to attend the King's
Festival, Jack wishes for his cow, Milky-White, to give milk, and the Baker and his Wife
long for a child. But to break their curse of childlessness, the Baker and his Wife must
collect special items for the Witch: a cape as red as blood, a cow as white as milk, hair as
yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold.
As they venture into the woods, their paths cross with Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel,
and other beloved characters, each with their own wishes. However, their dreams come at
a cost. Wishes granted bring unforeseen consequences, revealing that "happily ever after"
is not as simple as it seems. Through humour, heartache, and clever twists, Into the
Woods JR. teaches the importance of community, personal responsibility, and the
complexity of growing up.
With catchy songs and vibrant characters, this junior adaptation delivers an engaging, family-friendly take on Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical.
