The Questors presentAn Ideal Husband
by Oscar WildeSparkling modern production of the witty classic
A greedy politician, financial scandal, and the threat of exposure. All the ingredients for a contemporary Westminster thriller. But Wilde's witty comedy came to the stage in 1895.
A youthful error of judgment comes back to haunt a distinguished parliamentarian with an unblemished reputation. He might just be able to avoid a scandal, but can his wife ever forgive him, the man she imagined as perfect?
During the play's first run, Wilde faced a personal scandal of his own, being arrested for an act of gross indecency, and his name was removed from the theatre billboards.
This fresh new production updates Wilde's text (but only a little) and locates the comedy in a modern-dress, modern-day setting.
